ABSTRACT

After the successful combat with the first covid wave in the country, Mutation created havoc in India. This was addressed to poor social habits and irresponsible covid behavior in the community and lack of awareness. Many studies during and after the pandemic assessed the preventive health and hygiene practices of Health Care and front-line workers and reported substandard and suboptimal practices regarding various subsections, but only a few studies investigated the practices of the conununity, and no study addressed the preventive practices of factory workers and labors. This study assessed the health and hygiene practices of Chittaranjan Locomotive Workers, India, the world's most productive locomotives. A pre-validated questionnaire consisting of 21 items incorporating various subsections including hand hygiene, social distancing, mask, gadgets/fomites, and lifestyle was used for the study. The findings of the study unfold some suboptimal practices regarding hand hygiene, social distancing while working, repeatedly touching, and inappropriate disposal of masks, which could lead to widespread infections, and families of workers were found to be at greater risk. However, in most of the areas workers were aware and cautious but constant vigilance and heightened self-awareness can result in better prevention from infections. The study will contributeto policy framing and program building in times of health emergencies and also will strengthen the health practices of workers who are most vulnerable to infections.

ABSTRACT

Active participation in games and sports can aid with a variety of natural skills including jumping, running, and other powerful motions that are critical for improving performance. While sports performances mostly demands high lower limb fitness and strength, having strong legs can help correct muscle imbalances and accelerate the rate of recovery (Schlumberger, A., 2006). The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 6 weeks of online vinyasa training on explosive leg strength of school children during COVID-19, using the AARPHAD youth fitness test item, the standing broad jump (SBJ). The study included 30 students (ages 12 to 14) from public schools in North Delhi who had never received structured training before. The participants were subsequently subdivided and assigned to either an experimental (vinyasa) or a control group at random. The health-related fitness variable chosen for the study was explosive leg strength. The online vinyasa training session was given to the experimental group for six weeks as 30 min pieces of training for five days a week, while the control group continued only their prior active lifestyle routine. Further to assess the findings, data was collected twice during the pre and post-test before and after training. When the data was evaluated, it was discovered that the six-week online vinyasa training showed statistically significant impacts in the post-tests for explosive leg strength performances when compared to the pre-test results (P0.05). Furthermore, as compared to the control group's post-test results, the experimental group's explosive leg strength performances in the post-test were statistically significant in terms of more improvement (P0.05). The significant difference between the experimental and control groups was discovered by ANCOVA. ANCOVA revealed a significant difference in the experimental group after six weeks when compared to its baseline. The study showed that online vinyasa training programmes may be effective for improving health-related fitness via variable explosive leg strength. © 2021, Editura Universitatii din Pitesti. ABSTRACT

The outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic in India has started from the month of March when many cases were tested positive for novel coronavirus. The high infectivity of the disease led many governments to impose strict lockdown with the aim of limiting its spread. To restrict its spread and save the people of India our government has also imposed strict nationwide lockdown in a phase wise manner. Though the lockdown was imposed to restrict the spread of COVID 19 but it had severe undesirable impact on the socio-economical and psychological status of the people especially of low to medium income groups involved in private jobs. The aim of this study was to study the cases of autopsied unnatural deaths with special emphasis to find out the correlation between demographic pattern of deceased with the lockdown. In this study we have analysed the 961 cases of autopsied unnatural deathsin the mortuary of Department of Forensic Medicine, NBMCH, Darjeeling, West Bengal from the first day of lockdown up to the month of September (24th March 2020 to September 2020). All data were analysed by appropriate statistical tolls like SPSS software. In this study we found that male (66.4%) predominated over the females and most of the cases belongs to adult age group (44.27%). Persons involved in private jobs (44%) were more severely affected compared to the government jobs and cases of suicidal deaths (45.7%) rises but cases of deaths due to road traffic accidents (13.9%) drastically reduced during lockdown period.
